Hola Ronnie, this is what I found.
La titulada La Vieja del Concilio que narra la desventura de una hermosa
mujer española muy rica (que se cree fue doña Ana González Florida quien
vivió en el siglo XVII); quien fue atacada por un leoncillo que le desfiguró
el rostro, pasando la desdichada el resto de sus días con la cara cubierta;
se convirtió entonces en una mujer muy cruel que se dedicó a asaltar
diligencias y arrieros, en unión de su banda; reuniendo una gran fortuna.
Agrega la leyenda que, después de fallecida, su espíritu vagó y siguió con
sus fechorías, auxiliada por los animales feroces que la obedecían.
I have a book somewhere that talks more about it but I'll have to look for
it.

Does anyone know how the couples Francisco Gutierres de Mendoza y Ana Gonzalez Florida or Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo y Maria Muñoz or Rodrigo Olivares y Maria Hurtado de Mendoza ended up in Jalostotitlan? About there origins or parents?

The "Gonzalez de Hermosillo " originated in a small village called
Hermosilla, just a few miles North of Burgos, Spain. You can Google it and
find information about it.
I like to recommend a book: "Jalostotitlan a Traves de Los Siglos" by Jose
Antonio Gutierrez Gutierrez. This book has a lot of information not only
about the founding families of Jalos, but also about the region known as Los
Altos de Jalisco. You'll find it very useful in your research.

Since you lived in Spain, let me give you some information about a book:
"Hermosilla, Su Historia y sus Gentes" by Dionisio Cueva.
You might be able to get it if you still have connections in either,
Hermosilla or Madrid. I got it through a friend who lives in Madrid and he
was kind enough to go to Hermosilla to take some pictures and try to do a
little research for me. He sent me a picture of the house where the Gonzalez
used to live. The descendents are no longer in Hermosilla, they moved to
Burgos.
In one of the pictures that he took there was a poster with the announcement
of a book on the history of Hermosilla. I went to the web and found the
Hermosilla web page where I posted a message asking for information on how
to locate Presbitero Dionisio Cueva, the author. It wasn't long before I
had a phone number in Madrid, I asked my friend to call it and he was able
to get in touch with the author. It took a few weeks to get the book
because they were being kept in Hermosilla and I would have to wait until
Dionisio Cuevas went back to get the book. The book is fairly new, it was
published in 2006.
If you do get, it you'll be fascinated by it, the book includes census taken
in 1508, 1512, 1518,,1524, and 1530. The census are very short since very
few people lived there at that time.
You might want to try: WWW.escolopios.es they are the publishers and they
can probably help you to get a hold of Padre Dionisio Cueva or Saturio
Laredo, author and co-author of the book, both of them are from Hermosilla.

Just an opinion, we don't really know because they weren't their but by research and estimation" I could say based on my research in Los Altos that the families we're constantly moving from place to place. I have several families moving everywhere in Los Altos from Lagos to San Juan, Teo., Aguas to Ayo and Jalos. all over. It is interesting that they always moved to a certain location based on what time of the year? Prob it was dryer in Ayo than Jalo im not sure. We could say European civilization was in it's creation form in the mid 1500-1600's so maybe the natives attacked like in Aguas? Well the Hermosillos came from D.F. if im not mistaken before coming to Los Altos and Muñoz came directly from Spain and The Mendozas I believe came from Guadalajara the prob. is not sure which one since there were 2 or 3 Guadalajaras Diego Hurtado de Mendoza came from D.F. to "La Guadalajara" (Cited from Gary Félix site "Genealogy of México" Page on Early Settlers of "La Nueva Galicia" He was son of Rodrigo de Mendoza and Inés de Tapia he married a daughter of a conquistador de Hispanola" He was said to have two daughters and two sons. I believe on of these daughter to be "La Infamosa Isabel de Los Altos"
If this is accurate I have her genealogy going back for centuries. One son was said to go to Michoacán, which could probably explain the Mendoza-de la Mora line. (Cited from Gary Félix site "Genealogy of México" Page on Early Settlers of "La Nueva Galicia")Does anyone know about Rodrigo de Olivares? It's akward in records you dont hear about him and boom he shows up instantly. Did he come from Spain directly to Jalisco? -Daniel
