Family Finder Matches

  • Add
  • By RaquelRuiz | Wed, 2013-01-16 13:15

I would like to suggest that we not post lists of our FF matches via
Nuestros Ranchos but share them privately via email instead. Posting on NR
puts the lists on the internet. I believe customers of FF give permission
for FTDNA to share their names with their matches but may not be expecting
them to be shared with the whole world via the internet. I hope all of you
    agree.

In my haste to establish common ancestry with "fellow," NR members
I thought posting the names that appeared on the FF Listing on NR would save time and effort...

I was under the impression that postings to NR were limited to only NR members...apparently that is not the case based on what you noted.

How would one go about "sharing," privately via email? Not all NR members are known to one another, or whether or not they had participated in the FF testing process...

Would it be possible to set up an area on NR that is only accessible to registered NR members that could be used to post test results?

Only the email discussion lists are public (there could be a rare exception
to that if someone made a particular item open to the public). So what I
would suggest is that you go to your folder and upload a word file there
with the information you want to share. Then send an email to the group
announcing that you have uploaded new material to your folder (give the
address to your folder in your message). You should also give a few words
explaining what the new material is about. Let me know if you or anyone else
needs help doing this by emailing me at joseph@nuestrosranchos.org so we can
    walk through it together.

Can this be updated easily? Maybe we could add a ftdna Family Finder
designation next to our names in the "Member Genealogies File Folders"
page, so member know to look?
